India Yoga Tour

  • 7 Days - 6 nights

In Buddhist philosophy, yoga can be understood as a disciplined path of training the body, mind, and awareness to overcome suffering and attain liberation (Nibbāna/Nirvana). The Buddha emphasized the Noble Eightfold Path, which includes right understanding, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. Yogic meditation is particularly expressed through śamatha (calming and concentration) and vipaśyanā (insight meditation), through which practitioners develop mindfulness, understand the impermanent nature of existence, and see the causes of suffering and attachment. Buddhist practice also emphasizes ethical conduct, compassion, non-attachment, and wisdom. Thus, yoga in Buddhist philosophy is not primarily about physical postures; it is a systematic cultivation of mindfulness, concentration, insight, and wisdom leading toward freedom from craving, ignorance, and suffering.

Yoga in Chapter 11 of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, known as Viśvarūpa Darśana Yoga (The Yoga of the Vision of the Universal Form), describes the profound spiritual experience of seeing the entire universe in the divine form of Lord Krishna. Arjuna, after receiving Krishna’s teachings about the nature of the Self and Supreme Reality, asks to see Krishna’s universal form. Krishna grants him divine vision, through which Arjuna perceives all beings, gods, worlds, and cosmic forces united within Krishna. This vision reveals the infinite, all-pervading, and timeless nature of the Divine. Chapter 11 presents yoga as a path of devotion, surrender, divine vision, and realization of the unity of all existence, teaching that through spiritual awareness and grace, the practitioner can transcend ordinary perception and recognize the Supreme Reality as the source, sustainer, and ultimate destiny of the universe.

Meditation Technique 21 of the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra is based on becoming deeply aware of the subtle space between the breath and the body. The practitioner observes the natural movement of the breath with complete attention, without forcing or changing it, and becomes aware of the stillness that appears as the breath moves inward and outward. As attention becomes increasingly subtle, the mind gradually becomes quiet and rests in the space of pure awareness. The practitioner does not try to achieve a particular experience but simply remains present and alert to the natural rhythm of breathing. Through this effortless awareness, ordinary mental activity subsides and the meditator can experience the silent, expansive consciousness of Bhairava, leading toward inner peace, self-awareness, and spiritual realization.
